Blue Badge Parking

Press Release:   Parking for Blue Badge holders.

Proposals to charge Blue Badge holders for parking in Suffolk Coastal District Council car parks have been attacked by Felixstowe Labour Councillor Margaret Morris.

Councillor Margaret Morris said, ‘Many people with physical disabilities have difficulty in accessing the car parking ticket machines. At present this is not a problem as they do not need a ticket unless they are parking for more than 2 hours.

If charges are introduced, many blue badge holders will simply choose to park in nearby roads, which of course they are entitled to do.

The Council will have spent over £18,000 checking all Pay and Display machines, in addition to making as yet uncosted changes to parking bays. So instead of increasing income in this mean-minded way, they may actually lose money overall.'
